Parshas Vayishlach - Camouflage Gingerbread Men

In parshas vayishlach Yaakov prepared for war with Esav. I made camouflage army gingerbread men for soldiers going to war!

Recipe:

Made about 50 small gingerbread men

3 cups flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
6 tbsp margarine
1 egg
1/2 cup molasses
3/4 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves

Food coloring for camouflage

Preheat oven to 375. Mix everything together. I made some camouflage and I kept some normal gingerbread men. I forgot to take pictures while making the camouflage but it was so easy! Take a few (however many colors you are going to use) balls of dough. Dye each one the color you want. I used a brown food coloring and put a lot of food coloring in to one ball and a little into another and made a dark and light brown. I also made a green ball. Do to a food coloring mix up I also had an accidental purple ball of dough which I decided to just use anyway. Once you color all the balls of dough divide each ball of dough into 3 pieces. Then put all the pieces of all the balls together in patches so each color is spread out. roll out the patches to make them stick to each other and because you want to roll out the dough anyway. Then cut out the men with your cookie cutter! Roll up the scraps and do it again (it's camouflage so it looks good even after its rolled up again and smooshed together and rolled back out!)  Put cookies on cookies sheet, they do spread a tiny bit but not a lot. Bake for about 10 minutes or until the bottoms are slightly browned.

Then you have to decorate! You can use whatever you want, I just melted some chocolate in a piping bag and made eyes, mouth and buttons!
