I made these cookies for an engagement party and I figured these would be great for this weeks parsha! In parshas Chayei Sara Yitzchok and Rivka get married!
These were really fun to make. You can use any sugar cookie recipe the recipe I used is posted below.. or really any recipe that can be rolled and cut into shapes. Then I used heart cookie cutters and cut out the shapes and baked them. In order to make the icing really easy to use I just mixed water, confectioners' sugar and food coloring. I made it thick enough so that is wasn't gross and watery but just thin enough that I could dip the cookies into it instead of having to spread the icing on. So I would dip the cookies in and then if I had to I would use a knife to spread the icing a little and touch it up. I then poured some red crystal sprinkles on some of the cookies!
Sugar cookie recipe:
3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
2/3 cup confectioners sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg
1 and 1/4 cup margarine
Mix together. Chill dough for an hour. Preheat oven to 375. Roll out dough and then cut out whatever shapes you want! Bake for 8-10 minutes
