Cheesy Garlic Bread
Unfortunately my bread did not come out looking super nice so that picture above is not mine but I wanted a nice picture for the post. Below is pictures of my bread. I made these last week. I thought it was pretty good but I think next time I would maybe mix some garlic into the dough to get a little bit more of a garlic taste in the bread.
Recipe:
Bread:
1 cup warm water
1 tbsp honey
1 envelope active dry years (2 1/4 tsp)
1 tsp salt
3 cups bread flour
Mix together and kneed dough. It should be slightly sticky but not too sticky that it gets all stuck to your hands. Cover dough with plastic wrap or towel and let sit and rise for an hour. When the dough is done rising preheat oven to 400. Divide dough into 2 pieces. Form each piece into a thick long baguette. I tried twisting mine a little but the twist only partially stayed. Cover the dough again and let rise for an additional half hour. When the dough is done rising turn over to 350 and place in over for 20 minutes. While the bread is cooking you can prepare the cheese and garlic.
Bread before the garlic and cheese is added
Cheese and Garlic:
Prepare slices of your favorite cheese to put in the bread. As well prepare a mixture of margarine and garlic. (Or you can just use garlic butter but I made my own) I melted about 4 tbsp of margarine with with about 6 tsp frozen crushed garlic.
After 20 minutes take bread out of the oven. Cut slices in the bread partially through. Insert a slice of cheese into each slot. Then pour some garlic mixture over the bread. Bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the bread is nice and brown on top.
.
My bread didnt slice so well and fell apart a little so I made one cheese and one just plain garlic bread!
